how to increase my friendship to iTunes

Well,
for Mail.app I use http://www.hawkwings.net/ for iTunes I should find
something else.
Can you suggest some good resources?
I am newbie to iTunes so I would like to solve some matters of mine
(and my philarmonic mind) without any pain. For example I'd like to
add to each album folder the pubblication year (for me it's an
important data) so wherever I am (finder, the file manager from
another os) I can know and see this data. As you can imagine I don't
want iTunes to mix everything and want to understand the better way
for the purpose above.
