Is this an Itunes bug I should report ?

I have some .AIFF files with 4:1 IMA/ADPCM compression. I had
succesfully converted all of them to MP3 in the past.
I now tried to convert them to AAC format. And it huffs and puffs, but
fails when it reaches the last second, with a "disk read"write" error.
The songs can play fine.
Is it possible that the latest upgrade of Itunes ( I am now at 7.6(29) )
broke the ability to convert from ADPCM to another format ?
(current workaround is to use soundedit to open the originals, and save
to an uncompressed temporary file and have itunes then import/convert to
AAC.)
(I have a collection of song recorded over the years, way before itunes
and mp3 existed and wish to integrate it).
.
