how can I have an audio folder besides a song folder for ipod ?

I have been using my ipod to store parts of audio recording such as
parts of audio books. When I import CD's or mp3's into itunes and
store them on my ipod, they get stored in the songs folder, but I
would like to have a separate folder if possible because I would like
to start putting music on my ipod and it would make sense if audio
books and music where not all mixed together. Can I do that ? I just
bought the ipod & itunes pocket guide, but so far haven't found
anything on that.
If not, is there anyway I can get mp3's that I import into the
podcast folder ? That folder seems to just work off of URLs through
the itunes store.
