Have you ever used the Finder "Info" window (File > Get Info) to change
ownership or permissions of files in your home directory?

I'm looking for a "Yes" or a "no".

Yes, I used it in order to access certain files on the Admin account
while I was transferring to the new account that I created

Ok.  Well if you used it incorrectly, it can definitely cause problems -
possibly the problem you are experiencing now with Office applications..

Try creating a new user account so that Offie applications work again,
and this time DO NOT use the Info window or chmod to change permissions
or ownership of files in your home folder. Use the new account like this
for a while and see if the problem resurfaces.

Will do! I'll clear this account out of my documents and pix and music
and stuff and transfer them to the new one me thinks.

Before you do, how, exactly, do you plan to transfer the files? How you
do it is important, because doing it the wrong way could result in
improper ownership and permissions of those files in the new account.

Well I've backed up all my files using Time Machine onto an external
hard disk - So I'll restore the necessary files like that. (That's my
plan anyway)

No system files are backed up by my settings in Time Machine, so I
can't imagine there should be an issue?
