Can someone please tell me what Time Machine does to an external
hardrive? Obviously I would like to use the features Time Machine
gives me but only if I can still use my hardrive for other purposes
and not just the entire drive to used by Time Machine.
Time Machine creates a folder namded Backups.backupdb on the designated
drive and puts your backups inside that folder. The drive can be used
for other purposes.
Also, what format is the backup saved in? Is it an image file that is
constantly updated and can only be understood by Time Machine, or is
it just a copy of the folders that are on the hardrive at the time of
backup that can be accesed through finder?
Files that can be assessed through the Finder.
