I've used Google forever and have my Safari "new page" option set to
open a search. Lately, however, I notice that when the page opens, the
box where one would insert text will have the insertion point blinking
for a couple of seconds, but then for some reason the URL loads again
(or perhaps finishes loading) and the insertion area blinking will
stop. This requires one to manually position via the mouse, making for
an apparently needless delay.
I've looked in Prefs, but saw nothing that might address this problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help!

Try waiting until the page finishes loading before you start typing?
If you are using your computer just for home needs I doubt that the
few seconds it takes to click the box should worry you.
