Will Leopard work on a "Snowball iMac"?
Not sure what Mac you're referencing, the snow G3 or the white
"desklamp" flatscreen G4. If the former, Apple's site indicates "no"
and, if the latter, the answer would be "maybe" (depends on the speed
of the G4 -- Leopard requires 867MHz G4 or faster
<http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/> and a number of the earlier G4
iMacs were less than 867MHz).
The 'desklamp' one, as you refer to it. I have always heard it called
the 'snowball' iMac, since the base looks like half of a snowball. When
I once took it into an Apple store for repairs, they understood the term
when I used it on the phone.
At any rate, thanks for the details. I will have to check the speed.
This was my wife's Mac when it was the hottest iMac sold, but is now my
mother's Mac, since my wife has upgraded twice since that one. As such,
it isn't here to check the speed immediately.
As I remember though, we bought it when the snowball was first
introduced, which may mean it is too slow, based on your comment.
