Having seen some recent recommendations for Little Snitch, I have
installed
it and am trying it out. I keep getting a request to allow connections to
sb.google.com, which (after googling!) refers to "safe browsing" mode.
That's obviously no problem if I am actively using Google, but why should
Google be requesting a connection unless I am actually searching for
something? I use Firefox as my main browser, and leave it hidden most of
the time unless in use, so there should be no activity going on.
You've got that backwards. Google's not requesting the connection,
Firefox is. I don't know why it would-- maybe something related to
Firefox's web seach box?
Look into Preferences/Security. Firefox checks visited sites with a
list of suspicious sites either from a static list or by asking Google
for it. You can switch this off if you don't like it.
Interesting, I didn't even know about this feature.
