Got a new MBP and Airport Extreme today. Migrated everything over
with the seeming exception of my Internet settings. On both computers, I
can sign on to the airport, but nothing further. The assistant tells me
I am green on Airport, Airport Settings, Network settings, ISP, but get
failed (red) for internet and server connection. When I try to airport
utility I get no valid IP address. When I sign on the Internet with the
old machine with ethernet connection it works (thus this message). I
can't get it to work via ethernet with the new one, however.
The AE is flashing amber.
So, any suggestions as to what is missing and where I might find it
on the old machine? Or where I might find it elsewhere?
Do you have a cable modem? DSL modem? You may need to power off the
modem, then connect the Airport to it, then power it on. This will
allow it to recognize and use the Airport's MAC address, instead of
looking for (and not finding) your old computer's MAC address.

That worked when I had AE on and connected. Thanks. Now we'll have
to see what other weird things happened during the transition (g).
