From a friend I received an Iso file, to burn it on a CD or DVD. As I
am without a possibility to contact him at the moment, I hope that
somebody may be able to help me.

What do I have to do, to get this Iso file on a DVD so that it works ?

Open up Disk Utility. Select "Burn Image" (or something to that effect) from the menu, selecting the ISO image in question. OS X will lead you through the rest.
