Can use the MacBook like a PC?

A lot depends on the Windows applications.

I run a Vista dictation application, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Pro which
runs great on both BootCamp and Parallels.

Moving up shortly to the $1,200 medical version of Dragon, with every
confidence that it will run great with BootCamp.

Free BootCamp is better for CPU intensive and ram intensive app's like
medical Dragon, but like most free things there are hidden prices to pay.

BootCamp allows you to use ALL your Mac ram for XP, which is desirable
for demanding app's like Dragon. Parallels only allows you to use half
of your Mac ram.

Downside of BootCamp that you have less "wiggle room" for what you can
do on a Mac, especially if you need to use the Vista OS.

With the $80 Parallels, backing up either XP or Vista is a breeze, very
easy to do.

By contrast, creating a "robust" backup of a BootCamp created Vista
partition borders on impossible; trivial backups of your documents are
easy enough to do, however.

With Parallels, you can keep your internal hard drive almost completely
free for Mac software, having XP, Vista, Linux, etc. on external drives.

With Parallels, you are not limited to dual boot, instead think more of
quadruple booting with Parallels; remember MacBooks can easily boot from
external drives. (with Parallels only, NOT with BootCamp, which requires
that you boot XP or Vista from your INTERNAL drive)

Keep in mind that both Parallels and BootCamp require Intel based Macs,
they will not work on earlier PPC Macs.

Tough decision. Like others have posted, a lot depends on exactly what
types of Windows app's you are using.

My advice would be to try both, then make your final decision based on
actual use, rather than on what people say.
