I need to print a report in landscape in FM Pro 3.0v5, but the print preview always shows in portrait mode. The data would be illegible and/or incomplete if I narrowed the columns, so I really do need to print it wider than portrait would allow.
You can print in landscape, no problem at all. But you hace to set it ti
do so in the "page setup" dialog.

If you print using a script, you must change the script and not the
layout itself.

I can indeed set it in Page Setup, but then, when I give the command to print, and click Preview, it always shows as portrait. Should I believe that it will print in landscape even though it displays that way?

Hei Eric... You have to go to the 'Finder' - not the Filemaker 'Page Setup'...

Click on the desktop and go to the menu next to the Apple icon and select 'Page Setup', click on the landscape icon and then 'OK'. Now click in the Filemaker doc window and go to 'File' -> 'Page Setup' and see, if it hasn't changed to landscape view in the preview window.

IF - this doesn't work you have to delete the Finder prefs and the file 'Claris Fonts' and 'Filemaker pro Fonts' from either the 'Claris' folder inside the system folder and/or the same file in the 'Preferences' folder.

Another 'trick' is to 'lock' the landscape settings, but then you have to change back to normal printing after printing the FM documents. - You can do this in the Finder' as well. - Click on the desktop, again go to the menu next to the Apple icon, select 'page Setup', click on the landscape icon in the window. Now hold down the ALT key while you click on the OK button. Now everything will be printed in landscape mode. So if you want to go back and change to normal vertical print mode, you have to do the above again...

I have had some of the same problems in Word 6.01, Word 98, Filemaker 4.1 and Photoshop 4.04 and always followed the above to change direction. - At least it worked for me on my PM 9600 and Beige G3 - both running 9.2.2....
