My sister has some el Cheapo version of MicroSoft that will not enable

Is there a workaround? Can I use my Office 04 version to save to a
format she can read?
Thanks,

Several possibilities:
TextEdit on the Mac will open MS Word files. This comes installed free
on all OS X Macs.
Pages on the Mac will open MS Word files. This is part of iWork, which
has a trial version on all new Macs, and which costs about $80 for a
full license.
Keynote on the Mac will open MS PowerPoint files. Comes as part of
iWork; see above.
NeoOffice on the Mac will open Word and PowerPoint files. This is open
source, free.
MS is supposed to have available a Word viewer and a PowerPOint viewer
free of charge on their website, but I have not used either.
If your sister has a Windows machine, not a Mac, she could get
OpenOffice, which is the same thing as NeoOffice, but for Windows.
Assuming you have a Mac, you can save the files in various formats that
she can read, most broadly useful being PDF. All she would need to view
them would be Adobe Reader, which is free. She will be able to view but
not read the files. You can save Word files as RTF, and maybe she can
read them with some word processor.
