I'm about to embark on rehosting my web store. My new host will be
Yahoo. I'm a programmer and I want to do some custom stuff on my
site. I also need a consistent and professional look. So ...
I have to choose a tool.
Yahoo has its own tool called SiteBuilder. I've never used it, so
I don't know how good it is. (any opinions?) It's Windows only, and
I'm no longer using Windows, so the only way I could use it would
be to run parallels or WINE or some other emulation system.
I've never used Parallels. How convenient would it be to run something
like SiteBuilder inside Parallels?
I don't know if SiteBuilder would run under WINE, but I'm not eager to
spend my time trying. I used to use WINE under Linux and it sucked just
as much as everything else did under Linux. If someone knows whether it
works and how well, let me know.
The other option is to use a third party app, like Dreamweaver. It's
available for Mac, for around $350. I've never used Dreamweaver or
similar web development tools. Is Dreamweaver really worth $350?
What are the alternatives?
Any advice appreciated.
As it has Trial (which has no limits except 3 pages) , you should check RapidWeaver from Realmac software ( http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21434 )
The genius of it is: It already comes with pure W3C compliant "themes" but it also allows any coder to code their own stuff or even create a theme and sell it.
Much like OS X, you know "friendly for both geeks and regular users"
I have created a professional site using only the built in themes and they ask site owner how much he paid for those professional pages. :)
It is one of very rare applications I can blindly suggest on OS X platform.

PS: If SiteBuilder is same thing I saw, it is joke for any serious thing, even for me as complete html newbie.
