Taking the battery out and putting back, it turned on!
Next time you need to force a reboot, just use Cmd-Ctrl-Powerkey.
It's running ok now. Was it just a crash?
Sounds like it. It should be in the logs. Launch
/Applications/Utilities/Console to view them. I believe traces of such
system crashes should be in system.log or in /Library/Logs/panic.log.
Or a symptom of an iBook that will die soon (mine is < 1 year old)?
Nothing you said indicates that.
