As far as I'm aware of there is no way to convert it to a more usable
type - not even by using 'Soundconverter'. - The .aa/.au format is a
well-protected file format that is just as hard to hack as the
AmiWordPro text format.:-( - which means - noone has done it until now...
Funny then that the OP claims that Audacity can read it without
problem. I
had a quick look at the Audacity source code and didn't find any part
that
seemed to specifically deal with the Audible format, so I was assuming
that
it was just using either QuickTime or Lame for it...
