Not I am saying it will work but worth trying anyway. They are
advocating for the features you ask for.

Hey, I am the one who created that petition! :) Unfortunately the mail
address I used to register that (@macintosh.eu.org) has died long ago.

I sent Yahoo an email when we reached 1000 signatures and again after
the 1500 mark, but their (half?) automated response was along the lines
of "we don't know when, and indeed if, we're ever going to do that".

And to think that small groups of good coders were able to create jewels
like Acquisition and Subethaedit... would it be so expensive for Yahoo
to hire them to rewrite the messenger from scratch, using Cocoa and
Objective C?

It's a shame that Yahoo messenger hasn't been updated in three years. I
know many people on Yahoo (mostly from outside Italy, since people here
are obsessed with MSN), and at least it allowed me to see my friends on
webcam and be seen by them easily. Now, even that has broke, and I have
a distinct fear it will never be fixed, just like they never added other
features.

At this point, I hope Skype releases Skype 2 for Mac soon (with video
capabilities)... Mercury, the MSN client which supports webcam, is
insanely heavyweight on Dual G4 1 GHz with 1 GB of ram, and I just
dislike the MSN look. I usually use Fire for MSN. But that's another
story...
