Word 98 Type 2 crash

Hello,

Recently (and I don't recall what I did just prior to this starting), on
my G4/450 running OS 9.2.2, whenever I highlight text in MS Word 98 and
try to copy it, the application unexpectedly quits with a Type 2 error.
I'd like to know if anyone has any idea why this might be happening. I
didn't install anything new around the time this started. Wish I could
remember just what all was happening at the time, but I know I didn't do
anything major. MS Office 98 resides on a partition of my external
Firewire HD, and never had any issues in the past. Please help!
