So the mystery is now: Why does that key command turn my screens
negative and how can I work around it. I can't seem to find any way of
changing the key commands for Universal Access, and none matches the
sequence above.

Any followup ideas?

System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, Keyboard Shortcuts tab. You'll
find the Universal Access keyboard shortcuts (and all other system-wide
keyboard shortcuts) there. That's where you can change them, or you
could just change the "Hide" command keystroke in QK.

Been there, done that. No difference. You're right, *I could* change the
QK Hide command to something else, but after many, many years, that
habit is going to be hard to break. I'd still like to see if there is a
more rudimentary fix. But thanx for the suggestions.
