No, no Windows tool is able to mount a disk image made on a Mac
I have the need to send files that are somewhat confidential to a family
member that owns a Windows machine (files will be send over the net). The
first thought that came to mind was to use an encrypted disc image that
would require a password to be opened. The questions is:
Can Windows handle disc images created on a Mac ? In case they can, how
would the user open then when they are encrypted and require a password to
be opened ?
If you put the files into a folder and use Allumne DropZip, you can stuff the folder with password protection. Then send the zipped file to the recipient without the password in the mail. Send the password itself in a seperate mail - maybe to another account/mailaddress belonging to the recipient, - or just give the recipient a phonecall and tell him/her the password.
The recipient will be able to open the zipped file with either Allumne StuffIt Expander for Windows or with a compatible program like WinZip.
StuffIt Expander and WinZip treat the password protected .zip file the same way, - i.e. the recipient just have to enter the password to unzip the file. Do not make the .zip file selfextracting (.exe) file for Windows.
