Wow, thanks, that was exhaustive. I actually understand ipfw, I was just
interested in the specific rules for denying outbound traffic through
certain ports. Thanks for taking the time to put all that down, though.
I've got it saved to read through with my morning coffee ...
In that case, the short version is:
The default deny rule blocks all outbound and inbound traffic
unless you explicitly allow it....
My way of developing rules is to watch the logs, see what
the traffic consists of, and decide what to allow.
The man page shows the syntax
