subscription newspaper) and open let's say six to ten articles in tabs

Safari stalls when you try to switch tabs sometimes. (I do, plenty.)
Now do the same with <http://www.dagbladet.no> (a major tabloid), and
check for delays and stalls again. I don't get any there.
That's what I mean.
I am on a 1 mbps line, and Firefox doesn't have the problem - so
something is plain different with Safari, and to the worse.
As I said, System 10.4.4, 768 MB RAM, plenty free disk, PB 12" 1GHz.
