When I try to record an extra-long playlist in iTunes, I get the

I say OK and start burning. But in the process of recording the
playlist on multiple discs, the track names are lost and the tracks
become Track 1, Track 2, etc.
How can I do this so as to retain the names?

The track names are not retained anyway, if you put the (audio) disc in
another computer.

I had hoped to retain them so I could print out a list of the tunes on
the disc, to paste on the envelope. As I recall, in an earlier version
of iTunes, the tunes from the overly long playlist that would be on the
disc were greyed out, so I could make a new playlist from the
greyed-out songs and put it on a disc.

The playlist doesn't disappear because you burn it. What is the problem?

Sorry not to be clear. I am not sure the following is clear either.
Since I have figured out a solution to my problem, the following may
not be worth reading.

Essentially, the problem was that if I have an extra-long playlist that
I want to put on a series of CDs, with each CD's playlist printed out
for pasting on the CD envelope, I did not know how to do it. In
formulating my response to your msg, I have figured out a way.

If I have an extra-long playlist that I want to put on CDs, I would
like to use the smallest number of CDs. I would also like to print out
playlists of what is on each CD. When burning a CD from a short
playlist, the songs are listed on the burned CD, so I can print out a
CD playlist from that CD or from the corresponding playlist in the
Source list. When burning multiple CDs from a long playlist, the songs
are not listed on the resulting CDs; what I get is Track 1, Track 2,
so I am unable to print playlists, either from the resulting CD or from
the Source list, of each CD to paste on the CD envelope.
In the past, it seems to me that when a playlist was too long to put on
a single CD, the names of the tunes that *would* fit on a CD were shown
greyed out. I could then make a playlist for those tunes, print it out,
burn a CD of those tunes, then subtract those tunes from the original
playlist, then keep doing that same procedure over and over until all
tunes on the original (very long) playlist were on CDs, with
accompanying printed playlists. Under the newest iTunes, the names of
the tunes that will fit on a single CD are not greyed out *but I see
that their check marks are greyed out.* I did not notice that before.
So I can ask iTunes to put the original long playlist onto multiple
CDs, then (as iTunes is preparing to burn) look quickly down to see
which check marks are greyed out (e.g., through tune 37), then quickly
cancel the burn, make a new playlist consisting of tunes 1 thru 37,
print the playlist, burn the CD, and subtract tunes 1 thru 37 from the
original list. If there is an easier way to do this, I would apprec
hearing about it. Thx for all help. T-L
