Problems connecting Mail 2.0.5 to Exchange 2000 over IMAP

Hi there,

I guess this is a pretty common complaint from what I have read around
the net, but I have not been able to find a solution to this as of yet.

We've just purchased an iBook for our graphic designer and I've found
that our Office 2004 CD has done a disappearing act on us. I've setup
the 30 day trial of Entourage without any problems to our Exchange
server, but as a backup I'd like to get Mail working as well as the
user doesn't really like using Entourage anyway!

I selected Exchange in the account setup and entered our mailserver's
IP in, along with the username and password for the user in question.
When clicking continue I got an error stating the server could not be
contacted. I checked all connections and made sure I could ping the
server from the machine which was all OK.

I found that we did not have IMAP enabled on the Exchange server, so I
switched on the service for it and the error stating it could not
connect to that port disappeared, but now I am always getting a message
saying the username or password is incorrect. I have tried the username
in the format of:

<username>
<domain>\<username> (which we use for OWA)
<domain>/<username>

all of which do not work. I have plain text authentication enabled on
the IMAP connector and it can see the incoming session while the
authentication window is up. Sending out mail seems to be OK via the
SMTP service, but I just cannot get Mail to login to the account.

Any ideas would be most appreciated
