The odd thing about the steps described at that site is step 4-- 'Open
Pacifist and extract from the iTunes package the file
"iPodDriver.kext"'. As far as I can tell, the iTunes package does not
contain this file, making this step impossible.
If it was me, I think I'd be inclined to run the iPod software updater
(which should be in your Applications --> Utilities folder). That'll
wipe the entire iPod and load the software fresh. You can then re-sync
all your iTunes tracks back onto it. I can't be 100% certain it'll
work, but it's probably what I'd do next in your position.
