Hei
Yes, most of the SATA PCI controllers will make bootable performance on any of the older PowerMac - Sawtooth and PCI Graphics.
Thesse cards here all are guaranteed to work - taken from the Otherworld Computing website.
<http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/ATA-SCSI-Firewire-Controllers/>
FirmTek SeriTek/1S2 Serial ATA/150 Dual Channel Mac PCI Controller - Use Serial ATA (SATA) drives in any PowerMac with an available PCI Slot! 2 Year Firmtek Warranty. (FTKFTST1S2) $63.99
Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA 2-Port Serial ATA PCI Card. New with 3yr Sonnet Warranty. (STITSATA) $75.99
ACARD AEC-6290M Serial ATA (SATA) 2 Channel PCI Controller Card - Upgrade your Mac with a SATA card! (ACDAEC6290M) $56.95
SIIG Serial ATA PCI Controller Card - High-Speed dual channel PCI-to-Serial ATA (SATA) host adapter for the Power Macintosh. 5 year SIIG Warranty. (SIISCSATM12) $59.95
SIIG Serial ATA 4-Channel PCI-M - 4 Channel Serial ATA Controller for the Mac (SIISCSA4M12) $79.95
You can check it for yourself by clicking the 'more info' link at each of the cards.
I have good experiences with cards from Sonnet, SIIG and ACARD.
Cheers, Erik Richard

I've got a sawtooth and i'm trying to boot from a SATA drive off of a PCI. Every once in a while it works, but not always. I'm using 10.4.2 . Is this possible or do I have another problem?
