A growing number of people who have just updated to Snow Leopard are still running into printing problems now that Apple has dropped Appletalk support in OS X. Printing in OSX with many consumer printers is horrible. The printers that have worked for me are the Epson CX9400, my trusty HP 1200 laser jet and my newest acquisition, my HP CP1518ni.

I have gone through at least 5 printers (Lexmarks and Samsungs) that were horrible, even using CUPS. I don't know if it's the same on the Winders side, but my printers and I just have a difficult time getting along.

Even though it's a driver issue, I wouldn't buy anything but an HP and my second choice would be an Epson.

As for Appletalk, is Edwin kidding?

Have had good luck with my 10 year old HP LaserJet 4000, built like a tank. I took it all apart awhile ago and thoroughly cleaned it, you can't find them made like that any more. Ahwile ago I bought a used JetDirect card for it so I print to it via IP.
