Installed and works great.

Here, let me guess: it solves the problem with the slightly outdated and
less secure Flash version.

I thought you claimed to know the fix for that was updating Flash yourself
in 10.6.

Snow Leopard update fixes Adobe Flash issue

Apple on Thursday released a relatively minor update for Mac
OS X Snow Leopard that fixes an issue users had with the
operating system that downgraded them to an older version of
Adobe Systems' Flash Player.

When Apple released Snow Leopard on August 28, it included an
older version of Adobe's Flash plug-in that was known to have
security issues. Sophos security expert Graham Cluley warned
users of the downgrade and urged anyone who installed the
operating system to upgrade immediately.

Snow Leopard 10.6.1 addresses this issue by updating the
Flash Player plug-in to version 10.0.32.18, the most current,
stable release from Adobe

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.1

The Flash issue is notable as the Snow Leopard installer was
criticized for installing an older version of the plug-in
that contained security vulnerabilities, even if the user
already had a more recent version installed. The 10.6.1
update deploys the most recent version of the Flash plug-in,
10.0.32.18.

The fact is, OS X 10.6 has a well known weakness in that it
installs an older, less secure version of Flash. This problem
with OS X will, according to multiple sources, be resolved in
10.6.1.

I was right. You are also right that I knew how to install software
directly from Adobe. Good to see both of us are correct!
