Thank to their illegal software monopoly, IE used to
have over 90%, so the other are chipping away (slowly).
Irrelevant.

Firefox is great, you can even get plugins to make it
display in proper English!
Irrelevant - MS RULES.
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Browser Statistics Month by Month
2009 IE7 IE6 IE8 Fx Chrome S O
May 21.3% 14.5% 5.2% 47.7% 5.5% 3.0% 2.2%

IE = 41%, Fx = 47.7%.

FireFox wins.

As nice as it would be if the above stats held for the rest of
the web:

"W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web
technologies. These people are more interested in using
alternative browsers than the average user. The average user
tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled
with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers."

It also states,

Statistics Are Often Misleading

You cannot - as a web developer - rely only on statistics.
Statistics can often be misleading.

Global averages may not always be relevant to your web site.
Different sites attract different audiences. Some web sites
attract professional developers using professional hardware,
while other sites attract hobbyists using old low spec computers.

Also be aware that many statistics may have an incomplete or
faulty browser detection. It is quite common by many web-stats
report programs, not to detect the newest browsers.

(The statistics above are extracted from W3Schools' log-files,
but we are also monitoring other sources around the Internet to
assure the quality of these figures).

Thus, say a Linux or Mac computer with a web browser set to mimic
Win XP and IE 6 will sometimes be counted as a Windows computer
and IE.

These are interesting, follow Usenet MO sometimes:
