This whole "debate", if you want to call it that, started by you noting an
easy-to-replicate event
(which has yet to be replicated!) :-)
At first I thought you were going to whine about what app cancelled the
restart...
Why would I do that when the op seems unsure which it may be?
"... and hope that it actually goes through and that another app won't stop
the restart."- Steve de Mena
but below you actually make a valid point. Bravo.
It was fortunate indeed that fate had someone with you to explain that fact
for you!
with OS X: if you issue a restart (or shut down) command
Steve de Mena specifically stated 'restart'! why do you feel compelled to
embellish what was actually stated Snit?
I understand the whole picture quite well - it applies equally to both.
You have shown conclusively that you had no idea what started this "debate"
therefore your claim to understand "the whole picture quite well" is just a
delusion on your part Snit!
and programs do not quit within about 90 seconds, you get an error
message.
You don't seem to understand what started this thread at all Snit!... 90
seconds?
Again..... Steve de Mena specifically stated 15-20 seconds! why do you feel
compelled to continually embellish what was actually stated Snit?
"But if I have apps loaded it never restarts. After 15-20 seconds it tells
me that Application "x" has stopped (aborted) the restart. I have to then
manually exit out of Application "x" and do the restart again, and hope that
it actually goes through and that another app won't stop the restart."
-Steve de Mena
Hmmm, I will say, I missed his time frame - and I find that hard to
replicate!
Au contraire your ability to miss something of such importance in most
threads that you are involved in is legendary Snit, you easily and regularly
replicate *that*!
You have provided a video of this and I was able to easily
replicate it: <http://tmp.gallopinginsanity.com/timeout.mov>.
You have *not* replicated the problem that Steve de Mena claims to have! as
the 'timeout period' that your video is concerned with far exceeds the 15-20
seconds that SDM mentions!
That is a fair enough criticism. OK.
Which makes your claim... "I understand the whole picture quite well" a lie!
Even though you claim to *often* see the same problem as Steve de Mena has
reported you are clearly unable to support your claim Snit!
"I run a lot of apps and see this *often*... well, as often as I reboot,
which is rarely."-Snit
So where is the video of your system having a restart aborted within 15-20
seconds? Should be easy for you to show considering how *often* you
experience it ..... No?
Hey, with the time frame I admit an error.
Which led you to make such claims as ....
"This whole "debate", if you want to call it that, started by you noting an
easy-to-replicate event with OS X:"
"I run a lot of apps and see this *often*..."
Clearly your inability to follow a simple thread and understand the most
fundamental parts of it are responsible for you continually making the most
outlandish claims within it, unfortunately your claims all too often are
concerned with other peoples honesty, you really should take time out to get
yourself sorted Snit, surely you must realize that you have had this problem
long enough by now?
You find this behavior to be a problem - and I would agree. There is no GUI
method to change this timeout period,
How then have you managed to change it from around 90 seconds to be around
15-20 seconds? LOL
I am sure there is a way... but, no, I have never tried.
