It's not even worth paying minimum-wage to fix a PC when you can wipe
and reinstall the system every couple of months. I fix these PCs for
free because I feel sorry for the owners most times.

That's the thing, most people have a friend or relative that will fix
any Windows problems for free, they don't run out and pay someone every
time the system crashes or they get a virus.

If that were true I would lose a lot of customers! I have a lot of folks
who have tried their friends and relatives only to find they are worse off.

Not saying it is not true at all... it is, and clearly this is more true of
Windows than any other OS, but Windows also needs a lot more "baby sitting"
than at least OS X.

For someone that calls the Geek Squad every time they had a problem, the
total cost of ownership for a Mac would almost certainly be less, even
with the higher initial price.

Geek Squad came to my city a while back... great for my business - I get
calls from people wanting me to fix their mess all the time.

Mac users pay far, far less for support than do Windows users... they just
need less support.

How can Apple entice Windows users over to the Apple camp? It's by
making the initial cost lower. Not as low as a PC, but maybe 15-20%
higher rather than 25-40% higher.

When you compare similar machines, Macs *are* comparably priced. Apple does
not offer the flexibility of other companies, though: you cannot get an
iMac, for example, without wireless Internet and BlueTooth, even if you do
not need either (I do not). You also get a camera and mic, even if you do
not want them (I did)!

The price comparisons of an iMac versus an all-in-one from another
manufacturer are only valid if the buyer really wants an all-in-one.
Ditto for the cost of a Mac Mini versus the cost of a mini system such
as the Asustek system.
