Forced reboots of XP from all of the fresh patches being pushed this
month have been annoyingly frequent. Lately, the favorite time to
share the misery of disruption seems to be at noon on Wednesdays.
Re: your bitch about "all those fresh patches", do you mean all two of
them? They were updates, not patches.
Yesterday may have only been 2, but there were 11 of them last week.
As to how many were 'updates' versus 'patches' is pure semantics,
since either way, it still was a disruption which required rebooting.
Hmm - better get back to your mac. When you get it running. For the
future - don't install Apple patches for at least two weeks after they're
issued. Then you won't be blinded by the light. After two weeks it's
usually not too long a wait until the "patch for the patch" is issued.
That is different from the Apple patches.
Is this an "Update" or a "Patch"?:
There are no Windows patches.

I guess if you're old and feeble, with a short attention span, then yes,
the
reboot would wear on your patience.
But I'll give you a tip; You don't have to reboot. Just shutdown your
computer after you are done with it, in the nornal manner, and Presto!!,
next time it boots up, the updates will install automatically.
Nice in theory, but the 11 installs last week were initiated at
shutdown, which postponed shutdown (and also meant that I couldn't
remove the laptop from its docking station) until they were all done.
Yeah, it could be long. My machine did that one in less than a minute. But,
to a busy guy like you, a minute could seem like an eternity.
Perhaps you should get the book "Windows for dummies". It might help in
your case.
Perhaps you should go call your "bro" who does IT stuff and ask him
what all the options are for larger sites to do manage their fleets,
including "pushes" and forced reboots that 'kill -9' all running
applications, because its obvious that you didn't comprehend the
management structure I was referring to.
Did you know that there is a roller coaster on the dark side of the moon?
