Microsoft have been halted. Attempting to put a positive spin on the
cancellation, Microsoft said that it had only intended to air the two
spots, and that they were part of a larger ad campaign. "All along we
said we were having a teaser campaign," Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw
said. "We're getting ready to start the second phase. This was the
plan all along." Some critics were skeptical, especially given earlier
reports that Seinfeld was being paid $10 million to appear in the
spots. Writing on the tech website ZDNet, business technology
columnist Adrian Kingsley-Hughes commented, "So the whole idea was to
come out with two ads that featured Gates and Seinfeld, ads that were
enthusiastically hated by most and then move on to phase 2? I doubt
it. I can't say that these ads weren't funny, but rather than being
'ha ha funny,' they were more 'What's that funny smell?' funny."
Beginning tonight (Thursday), Microsoft will roll out a new campaign
with the theme "Windows. Life without walls" that reportedly will
spoof the successful "I'm a Mac. I'm a PC" ads by Apple.

I don't know where you got such statistics. If they're based on web
browser share, you're really reaching to use that as proof.
Not browser share, OS share based on web statistics.

The same web site that all the Mac sites like AppleInsider and MacDailyNew "reach" regularly when they quote is as gospel.
Why is my theory "silly" when more than one major PC magazine has
voted the MacBook Pro the best "Vista" computer? Do you think their
recommendation was based on installing OS X and running Vista
occasionally via Boot Camp or virtually via Parallels/Fusion?
Your theory is silly because PC magazine's recommendation
nonwithstanding, there are far cheaper PC laptop alternatives for
running Vista on. They might not run it quite as smoothly as an Apple
laptop, but they'll run it good enough for the vast majority who run
Windows only. Also consider the fact that Vista Home Premium is an
additional $100 on top of the cost of the Apple laptop, where it's
almost always installed on a Dell/HP/Sony laptop.
People here say Apple Macs are *not* more expensive than the equivalent PCs.
Which is it?
