My server at home has an internal ip of 10.0.1.200. All port forwarding
for filemaker pro, for example, is done via the ABS and I can connect to
it via the internet merely by typing the static ip address:
72.168.2xxx.xxx. Now, if I wanted to connect to another database hosted
on another computer at home with an internal ip address of 10.0.1.150,
for example for the same application (FMP), running a different database
on that particular computer, how would I do it..
TIA
I haven't had a chance to work with FileMaker in a while, but IIRC, it
should be possible for you to override the default listening port it
uses for a particular database.
Specify different receiving ports on the ABS to forward the incoming
requests to the different receiving ports on the database server.
Thanks. IOW, I will duplicate the ports that FMP (or any other
application) needs to send and reveive data, just change the internal ip.
You'll have to tell the external client to use a different port than
you've set up for the first server, but once the router sees that
different port, it can re-route those packets to a different IP and the
standard FMP port.
