PC users adjust to the shortcomings of their operating system and
available software. I know, I used to be a regular PC user and for
years, I put up with unbelievable trouble in getting things to work
consistently, constantly downloading updates for Windows, virus
protection, other malware, adware and constant updates from the other
software I used. I was so busy updating and tinkering with my system,
I had very little time to enjoy using it.
I ran VersionTracker on my Mac for about a year (it cost like $75/year)
and it was finding updates for installed apps daily. Plus Apple's
Software Updates, and I was in the same boat as PC users.

Steve
Why would you pay $75? That's the stupidest thing you said on here so
far. Did you pay for that "Registry cleaner popup" on XP too?
What program do you use that checks for updates for all of the
applications on your PCs *and* Macs automatically and presents you with
a list of updates for easy download? The $75 or so cost was a license
for 10 machines (cross-platform).

I don't use anything.
How about keeping up with your software on your own instead of having
another piece of software running?

My time is valuable to me. I'd rather not spend it going to every vendor's web site for every app that doesn't do automatic checks for new versions.

No, I've never bought a Registry cleaner in my life. Sorry, don't see
the connection.

Steve

You don't see very many connections on anything, there Steve.

You realize that makes no sense. How about you bring up the beach again?

What a joke.

Steve

No, the real joke is you shelled out $75 for something that most apps already do. Office checks for updates, Adobe*, Corel. Then there's the time it took you to install it, most likely making people log off while they're in the middle of something. Or remotely installed it, slowing down their PCs.

Huh? These were for MY PCs and Macs at HOME. What are you going on about "making people log off"??

I could name 25 Apple OS X applications that VersionTracker kept track of that do NOT have automatic updates. Apps that I use and have installed.

And note that if you install many Apple apps in a location that is NOT the default "Software Update" will no longer find updates for them.

Yet you actually found a way to justify the expense of purchasing another app to do your job.
That is the kind of mistake high school junior makes. Maybe even a tech school dropout.

If you're that pressed for time, you need another person on your team. COunt me out. I'm sure MuahBoy, would be happy to volunteer.

So how does this app work? Does it pop up a window to the user? So they can call you ans ask what it means? Or do you just run the updates hoping it won't toast up other apps? I'm sure the accounting department would be happy when their spreadsheets are corrupted thanks to an update your app ran during tax season.

You said your time is valuable - what? Do you even remember what you said earlier? Are you that far gone? Dementia?
You're the kind of guy who would rather fix his laptop on an island somewhere rather than go out. I believe that's social anxiety syndrome.

As far as I know there are no shortages of psychotherapists; competent or otherwise.
Make an appointment, Medicare covers it.

Man, you are weird.
