1. All of my USB slots are taken up by external HD's, headphones, etc.

2. My friend/publisher wants to see the 300 photos I took at the
football game last night. Too bad I have a shoot in 5 minutes. It's
ok, I'll give him the whole camera since I don't have a card reader on
my Mac.

On my PC, I just give him the card, slap one of my other CF cards in
and continue shooting.

3. I don't want to run a cable to my EOS -1Ds MarkIIII ($8000.00 US)
and my EF 70-200mm 2.8 IS USM ($2199.00). God help someone if my dog/
gf/friend trips over the wire and pulls the camera and lens to the
floor. Better safe than sorry, pull the card out and slap into the
reader. Yes it's happened before.

4. Security. Often times the surf I'm chasing is in some 3rd world
country (i.e. Canada, Sweden) like El Salvador and Nicarauga (Costa
Rica has been ruined by American/Canadian toursim now). I don't want
my camera sitting out in the open, or a cable running from the
computer in the internet cafe to my bag. Much less inconspicuous to
pull the card out, put it in the computer and hide the camera and bag
under the desk.

5. Multi-Use! With the card reader I can use numerous cards for
various things at the same time. I can put photos or MP3. Better than
having to constantly connecting and disconnecting varying devices.

This is just another obvious area where Apple *** the bed. To save
themselves "6 dollars!", they ruined and entire platform. (the lack of
card reader is just one of the tons of reasons macs are "ruined")

Somebody beat the tall grass to get Alan Baker and the rest of the
Maccies to come out to answer this thread.

Why bother. It is clear that mama's boy is lying, as that is all he
does in this newsgroup.

Edwin: Point out the lies he told above.

The fact is that Apple has probably made a
choice to keep their laptops small, which probably precludes adding a
card reader, which would increase the size of the computer.

Edwin: How is it even the eePC, which is smaller than any Apple laptop, or
cell phones, which are smaller still, can have CF readers, but they're too
big for Apple laptops?

To me
personally, it is no big deal, since I don't use my digital camera all
that often (though I did take lots of pictures in Crete last week),
and it is not that big a deal to plug it into my external card reader.

Edwin: So you have a card reader even though you argue against those who say
the Mac ought to include them.

That is just my opinion, and others may have more need for an internal
card reader.

Edwin: Could you get any more wishy-washy than that?
