1. All of my USB slots are taken up by external HD's, headphones, etc.
You use USB for external hard drives? Pathetic, given other choices that
are available.
And get a freaking USB port.
Yep and they work great. I have a firewire one too, but despite the
specs, it's far slower..
I have a freakin USB port, I have 8 of them. I don't own a Mac. They
give me the vital stuff.
2. My friend/publisher wants to see the 300 photos I took at the
football game last night. Too bad I have a shoot in 5 minutes. It's
ok, I'll give him the whole camera since I don't have a card reader on
my Mac.
So do you show your pics before you edit them or delete the crap? You
can always edit them while you're transferring in Aperture. Oh, I
forgot, no Aperture for winders.
Yeah, I let him decide which ones to print. I can't do that with a
Mac. I have to hand my whole camera. You can't photography surfing if
you use a Mac. It's simply too inconvenient and time consuming. If you
are using Windows, it's much easier.
Aperture? Why would I use that low rated P.O.S. software? It's
terrible and slow. Lightroom is much better and faster and you can
edit your pictures while you're tranferring them. LOL @ a fucking
idiot that would think only some cheap cluged together Apple software
would do it.
On my PC, I just give him the card, slap one of my other CF cards in
and continue shooting.
I would never lend my card to someone else. If they wanted pictures, I'd
put them up on .mac, burn them a disk, or email them. When I'm done, I
can display them on my 52 inch plasma via Apple TV and knock their socks
off.
I trust my friends.
3. I don't want to run a cable to my EOS -1Ds MarkIIII ($8000.00 US)
and my EF 70-200mm 2.8 IS USM ($2199.00). God help someone if my dog/
gf/friend trips over the wire and pulls the camera and lens to the
floor. Better safe than sorry, pull the card out and slap into the
reader. Yes it's happened before.
So you'd rather take the chance of opening the compartment, ejecting the
card, pulling it out, putting your camera on a surface, inserting your
card in the computer, transferring pictures, ejecting the card from the
computer, grabbing your camera, inserting the card in the camera,
closing the compartment? To boot, you risk eroding the connectors in the
camera for the card. Wouldn't you just prefer to connect your USB to the
computer, transfer pictures while you edit and tell your friend he's
going to have to wait until you're done finalizing the shoot?
Yes, being that I'm not a Mactard. I'm not retarded and have no
problem ejecting the card with my finger.
4. Security. Often times the surf I'm chasing is in some 3rd world
country (i.e. Canada, Sweden) like El Salvador and Nicarauga (Costa
Rica has been ruined by American/Canadian toursim now). I don't want
my camera sitting out in the open, or a cable running from the
computer in the internet cafe to my bag. Much less inconspicuous to
pull the card out, put it in the computer and hide the camera and bag
under the desk.
I'm going to go get a PC now, after this gem. Were you planning on
getting yourself a Pina Colada across the street while your photos
transfered? LOL
Sounds like you are very well traveled. LOL, (rolls eyes)
5. Multi-Use! With the card reader I can use numerous cards for
various things at the same time. I can put photos or MP3. Better than
having to constantly connecting and disconnecting varying devices.
This isn't a function of how many card readers are integrated in the
computer, because you can do the same thing by using a USB external card
reader.
Plus, go grab yourself a 12 pack of 2 GIG cards at Wallmart and problem
solved.
I already have like 12.
This is just another obvious area where Apple *** the bed. To save
themselves "6 dollars!", they ruined and entire platform. (the lack of
card reader is just one of the tons of reasons macs are "ruined")
This is just another area where tools think up some lame excuse to
purchase a PC rather than a Mac, based on BS.
Pretty soon, you'll be extolling the fact that some PCs have floppy
drives and that Apple *** the bed [sic] because they don't offer that
particular option.
I'm sorry you find the inability to transfer files from my camera to
my computer without all the extra steps and hassle involved when using
a Mac. Apple computers are terrible. They are slow and unreliable.
That they also don't come with Blu Ray players, Card Readers, good
software, or a good OS are all valid reason for shunning the Mac
platform. There's a reason 98% of the planet reject using Macs,
because they stink!
Enough of this nonsense, Moomoo. It's getting old.
