USB headphones?   Good one!

I use a Plantronics DSP 500 *USB* Headphones/Microphone with
my Mac (for Skype)

Understood. Since the Troll's objective is merely to contrive a way
to run the computer out of USB ports, suddenly its perfectly okay to
have lots of big bulky things, such as an external HD...something to
remember the next time that the wailing comes up on the iMac :-) Of
course, it still gets conveniently overlooked that an external HD
would be better off on the Firewire 400 or FW800 ports, for not only
does this 'free up' a USB port, it provides the HD with much better I/
O performance.

At least a set of headphones is at least an excuse for a "something"
that can't be internalized, and thus not quite so utterly and
transparently lame. Of course, it still gets conveniently overlooked
that such a pair of headphones is still significantly bigger than a
USB hub, even without considering the option of installing USB *in*
the ExpressCard34 slot so that it doesn't effectively take up any more
room.

Insofar as the rest, for some of us, it isn't fantasy to have an EF
70-200mm L IS f/2.8 from Canon:

Insofar as a 5D, I've been holding off, since its replacement is
expected in ~3 months at Photokina. There's also rumors that the
100-400mm IS may be getting an upgrade (slightly faster; a 5 stop IS);
might become a respectable lightweight birder rig if it could be
stacked with a 1.4x while retaining autofocus, as on a crop body that
would provide ~900mm worth of reach, although for what I'm looking at
FF for, I'm more interested in going wide, such as to the 17-40 f/4L,
which needs an upgrade since the 10-22mm EF-S is reportedly sharper.
