Oops, I guess not. Macs don't come with integral memory card slots.
You have to buy an extra piece of Apple gear for that.
You should have bought a HP (or Dell)

Are you taking photos with a crappy, 1.5 MP camera provided on a
cellphone? Get a *real* camera, man! You can get a kickass 8.5 MP camera
for 80$, now.
And who takes their card out of a camera and into a card reader anyway,
Tommy? Most cameras connect via USB which is much more convenient.
Furthermore, I can transfer pictures via BT on my cellphone, so no need
for cables and readers, if I need to transfer pictures from my phone,
but I trust my memories to a better camera than one provided by a cell
phone.

it's when you ARE using a good camera that a card reader really
benefits- raw files + higher megapixels means longer transfer time,
and a high speed card in a card reader typically transfers much faster
than directly through the camera (even if the camera has usb2).

I don't want to turn this into a "Macs don't have it, therefore you don't need it" thread. I have never used a card reader and if I need to transfer many MBs of pictures, I do it overnight.

When I get back from taking a lot of (non-professional) photos, I don't want to wait overnight to see them and to build web pages/email them out.

Steve

How many thousands of RAW photos do you take, Steve, in order to need to the 20 % speed boost in transferring files? And don't you have to save the files as PSD, jpg or whatever format you chose to save them in? This whole stupid subject is much ado about basically, nothing.
In Aperture, you can start editing pictures while you transfer, so there goes your poorly constructed argument. Oh, I forgot, Aperture isn't available for PCs.

Huh? I use Macs. But I use iPhoto (after trying Aperture).

The statement was made by someone "if I need to transfer many MBs of pictures, I do it overnight." and I just said I don't want to wait that long. And I'd like the card reader built in.

I always take RAW photos with my Canon 10D and G9.
