3 Weeks into Vista

Well, an interesting journey to happiness has occurred.
After a few hiccups with a keyboard and a mouse that were hooked via a
USB adaptor cable I finally have everything pretty much working as it
should. I bought a new Kensington USB keyboard for $29 and that has
fixed the problem with the keyboard not coming up after a wake-up from
sleep mode.
An extensive list of the XP software seems to be quite happy with
Vista, or the other way around, in any event they all getting along.
I sold the Dell 2400 desktop at a garage sale and used the money to
buy a 22" LG LCD widesceeen display. My little $800 HP laptop is
running it at full 1680x1050 resolution. The display was an amazing
buy. For $269 on sale it as a 2 ms response time and 3000:1 contrast
ratio. Sharp colors and super quick.
Vista is running flawlessly. No application quits, and after it got
itself optimized it is lightening quick. Adding another gig of ram to
the laptop really helped too.
All-in-all it's been an relatively painless and low cost experience.
