Re: Steve Carroll does not know the difference between saving and quitting.

I mean, look at your BS:

Snit doesn't know that "An alert is a dialog"

What the heck are you babbling about? Do you even know? An alert need not
be a dialog...

"...need not be..." But in the context of the current discussion .....is!

In the current context the alert would *never* be a dialog. A dialog does
not offer info on what will happen *if* you press a button.

A dialog box stating something to the effect ....

"Replace files with the same name?" which offered a choice of buttons either
'ok' or "cancel" is indeed offering info as to what will happen *if* a
particular button is pressed!

Completely irrelevant to the conversation... but sure. Now why not talk
about the red button in question?

Clearly in such a case the user is being alerted as to the fact that a file
with the same name already exists in that location, and the dialog box
allows the user to determine what will happen as a result of that fact by
offering a choice of buttons to press!

Makes Steve's comments even less sensible.

Do you have *any* clue as to the topic of discussion? Just curious? Let's
pretend you are not just trolling and explain it to you (this is, of course,
futile - being that you are just trolling... ):

When you press the red close button (or otherwise close) the last window of
a program there is no GUI indicator to tell the user if the program will
quit or not. This creates a situation where there is unpredictability. I
believe it would be better if there was some GUI indicator... exactly what
is not the point but to have a dialog that tells you *after* you press the
red button does not solve the problem well at all and is not a part of what
*I* have suggested.

Of course, for the unobservant or inexperienced or simply not-too-bright
user they do not even know some programs quit and some do not... or can only
think of one application. Oh - in case you miss it, yeah, I am mocking
Steve's ignorance with that last statement. Poor abused Stevie.. he is just
such a nice guy for me to pick on, eh?
