HP Pavilion Desktop a6300f PC

Dimensions of the HP Pavilion:

16.28 x 6.89 x 15.24 in

Fits just fine in my desk's built in side shelf.

Dimensions of the Mac Mini (not counting the power brick):

Why aren't you counting the power brick?

2.0 x 6.5 x 6.5 in

I certainly couldn't fit your HP Pavilion in my home entertainment
system where I currently have my Mac Mini. I also wouldn't want the
amount of noise it would probably generate.

My computer is silent. I can't imagine having an entertainment center
that
couldn't fit my computer into it.

What have you got, a ghetto blaster on top of a stool? :-D

Getting a computer that small doesn't come cheap. It is using laptop
components, which cost more than equivalent desktop components, and
the
hard drive capacity available for laptop (2.5") hard drives is nowhere
near that of desktop (3.5") hard drives.

Okay, whatever you say. Why does that make me want to pay twice the
price
to get less hardware?

Nobody's asking you to do that.

Apple is.

No they aren't. They produce a product. Its there for you to buy or not
buy
as you like.

Apple offers its goods for sale to the public at large, against all other
competing offers, so I was asked to do that along with everybody else.

They aren't crying because you didn't buy a Mac, neither are any
of therMac advocates on this NG.

You seem to think you're some sort of UberMacSpokesman.

Nobody CARES what you buy.

Who died and made you god?

God doesn't care what you buy either.

Now you speak for God, in addition to Apple and all other Mac Advocates?

Does Steve Jobs and the Pope know about you?

You don't like the Mac?

When did I say I don't like it?

In every post you've written.

Then it ought to be easy for you to point out, yet you failed to do so.

You think its too expensive?

I know I paid half the price for my PC than Apple wants for a Mac, yet I
got
lots more stuff.

Gee, you can buy a whole apartment full of furniture at Ikea for the same
price as a decent sideboard from Ethan Allen too, but all that says is
that
Ikea stuff is junk and you get what you pay for.

My computer isn't junk, it's just as good as what Apple is selling, or
better, so your analogy doesn't apply here.

See, that's where you are wrong. It isn't as good as what Apple is selling.

Right, it's BETTER than what Apple is selling. Its twice the hardware for half of Apple's price.

It can't be bought with OSX.

That doesn't make Apple's hardware better.

I.E. It's not as good as what Apple is selling
because Windows isn't as good as OSX.

You have yet to give me a reason to pay twice as much for half the hardware, other than you like Mac OS, and something about trying to get old versions of Word to understand output from newer versions.

Just about every computer magazine and
computer expert in the world has acknowledged that.

Even if that were true, it doesn't support your extreme viewpoints.

Well, there are lots of alternatives
available for cheapskates like you.

The fact I didn't let Apple screw me doesn't make me a cheapskate.

The fact that you think Apple is "screwing people" is what makes you a
cheapskate.

No it doesn't.

In fact, you can occasionally find
loss-leader Winboxes for under $300.

What has that got to do with this discussion?

You must have missed that one.

If that's what you want, go for it. But
what we want is Mac OSX, because Vista, XP, Win 2k, ME SE Win98,
whatever,
simply are not very good in our estimation. We don't want to use them
and
will pay extra to be able to use OSX. I simply cannot give you an answer
any
clearer than that.

Your clear answer says absolutely nothing.

It speaks volumes, you just can't hear it.

Your statement that you, and others you're speaking for, don't like Windows,
and want Mac OSX, says nothing to address the issue of why one should pay
twice the price for less than half the hardware.

BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY WAY YOU CA GET OSX.

What made you think using all capitals gave me a reason to pay twice the price for half the hardware?

You do have one valid point: Apple does not make a Mac model which is
comparable to cheap mini-tower Windows PCs.

Actually my point was I got more hardware for half of Apple's price.

And an operating system that is, frankly, junk.

I like Vista a lot. It's great.

So, you like junk! Now that we've established that, what next?

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Certainly not. Vista is junk. Windows has always been junk.

Your opinions and preferences don't establish that I "like junk."

Not a good trade-off in my
humble opinion.

You must be joking! Humble opinion? LOL

You're right, I was just trying to use good netiquette.

Now I know you're joking! LOL

I for one wish they would at least offer a model which was somewhere
between the Mac Mini and Mac Pro in size and expandability (and
without
a built-in screen). They should be able to make it for about the same
price as a Mac Mini, if not cheaper.

So why don't they?

Because they do well with the lineup they have now.

So you're telling David to go to hell?

I'm not telling anyone anything. I merely explained that if Apple thought
that their market would be better served with low-end tower, they'd build
one.

Right after David expressed his desire for such a low end tower, you told
him Apple does well enough with the line up they have now. IOW, you told
him to go to hell.

I'm sorry, but the facts don't support that interpretation.

Yes they do. Even so, you don't give the impression that you're one to let facts get in his way. Just like when you claimed I wrote in every post I don't like Mac OSX, and failed to show even one time of me doing that. You just make up stuff as you go along, and hope you won't get called on it.
