Jesus existed - there are accounts of his life outside of the Bible.
Just like Mohammed existed. Don't be a dumbass.
I'd love to to see this contemporary corroborating evidence outside of the
Bible" that Jesus existed. I and any number of Biblical scholars have been
looking for it, essentially, since The Emperor Constantine's mother, St.
Helena went to the Holy Land in the 4th century AD looking for it.
Are you a "biblical scholar" the same way Dan Brown is? Right now it
sure is sounding like it.
George is one of those guys who think that any bit of graffiti
mentioning a name scratched on an ancient wall is enough to establish
an ancient's person's existence but until they find Jesus' driver
license, passport and at least one major credit card with His name on
it there's no way He existed.
Either the History Channel or Discovery Channel had a show on about
the existence of King David. On it they had an Israeli archeologist
talking about people like George and his hatred of religion. He
pointed out that the default position is to accept ancient texts as
true but if its in the Bible to call it a lie. He pointed out that if
it weren't the basis for two major religions the Bible would be hailed
as the greatest collection of ancient works ever found. But because it
is involved with religions there are religion haters like George who
won't accept any of it as true no matter how many times its shown to
be right.
The New Testament of the Bible is perhaps the best supported ancient
writing in terms of the existence of multiple, confirming manuscripts
numbering over 5000. The original manuscripts are multi-sourced.
The Bible, the Word of God, the Holy Scripture was written by men under
the direction, guidance and inspiration of God through the Holy Spirit.
Moses, credited with writing the first five books of the Old Testament,
the pentateuch, was spoken to directly by God, as were many of the
prophets who wrote many of the Old Testament books. Other Old Testament
books are historical records of the Hebrew peoples. The New Testament
gospels are narratives told by those who lived with and learned from
Jesus. Being told by four different writers, each one has a slightly
different point of view. Paul, a member of the Jewish Sanhedrin who was
appointed to persecute members of the Christian sect, became the apostle
to the Gentiles after an encounter with God on the road to Damascus. The
apostle John, who refers to himself in the gospel of John as the
disciple who Jesus loved, was given the Revelation of Jesus Christ while
in exile on the isle of Patmos. The Apocryphal books that are part of
the Catholic Bible were left out of the canonized King James Bible and
other editions because the evidence for their accuracy, authorship and
scholarship were questionable.
