Exactly! The CanSec challenge was bullshit.

Of course it was! Mactards have to make this claim as it shows OS X is
not
infallible to being exploited.

The rules were relaxed after no one was able to compromise the Mac via
a
direct remote attack.

Assuming for the sake of this argument the rules were relaxed the system
was
still exploited. Therefore disproving the claim that none of the holes
were
exploited.

If you cared to research what you claim, you would have know that the
rules were relaxed.

I'm very familiar with the contest. And I have researched it. And I have
yet
to see any offical rules for the contest. Perhaps you can provide them?

C'mon. You are very familiar with the contest and you researched it,
but you don't know the rules?

Yes, the Mac was exploited,

Exactly. Something Mark Thompson said could not be done.

but not by a direct attack as the contest had originally planned.

Irrelevant. Mark stated:

"but none that are exploitable"

To which I responded:

"The CanSec challenge shows otherwise."

The CanSec challenge shows the vulnerabilities can be exploited. Knowing
they can the question becomes: Why haven't they? I think we all know the
answer. But some just can't accept the reality.

The vulnerability was found in Safari, not OS X and the hacker still could
not attain root access. It is about as significant as the old Vista
keyboard/mouse or speech subsystem "expolits".

IOW allowing for more than the computer sitting there doing nothing is
considered a "relaxation of the rules"? I can turn on a Windows system
and
have it just sit there and it is very unlikely to be compromised. The
initial criteria was almost unreasonable. It would be like me setting a
Windows system up, leaving it off, challenging someone to hack it, and
when
they failed to do so "relaxing" the rules by turning it on.

LOL!
Read up on the contest before you post.

It's exactly as I said. They took two Macintosh computers, turned them on,
joined them to a wireless network and said "crack it". Is that supposed to
be representative of the state of security on a Macintosh? That it's
secure
as long as it sits there doing nothing? No user using it? No services
being
offered? That's a pretty weak requirement and can just as easily be met by
a
Windows system. You may as well just power the thing down and declare
victory. The real test of a systems security is how resistent it is when
it's actually being used. Either as a server or a workstation. When placed
in this situation the Mac fell in a mere nine or so hours. Hardly the
secure
platform Mactards would have the world believe it is.

Mayeb they should have had a Vista system along with the Mac and they
could have hada race to see which would be hacked first. But, since
MS was one of the sponsors...

Mac was hacked - no question about that.

VISTA - no viruses in the wild - no question about that.
