launch the program with the shortcut and your shortcut's modded to
launch the program with correct compatibility settings, isn't the
problem fixed?
There are no compatibility settings for shortcuts, only for
executables. So you have to right click on the shortcut -> properties
-> Find target -> right click on target -> properties -> compatibility.
I do not quite understand what has happened here. If your shortcut is a
shortcut to a .exe file, then it *does* have a compatibility tab, and that
tab controls the compatibility settings for the app, not for the shortcut,
so you can use it to get the effect you want here.
You do sometimes see shortcuts that point to installer components, rather
than files, in the start menu. But these do not have an "Open File Location"
command, so that can't be what you are seeing here.
Yep, same here. Trillian's shortcut has a Compatibility tab since
it's a real shortcut, but Word has neither the compatibility tab nor
"Open File Location." You can always make a real shortcut for such
apps, though.
