"I don't know who Dave Tholen is Eddie." -- Dave Fritzinger (of CSMA)

http://www.catalog.hawaii.edu/personnel/isrsustaff1.htm

FRITZINGER, David, Associate Specialist

THOLEN, David J., Astronomer

Why would he know him just because they have the same employer?

LOL! I've got Edwin on my side but you've got Snit on yours, Dave. Are
you ready to surrender yet? 8)

All the sane Maccies are distancing themselves from Dave...

And you are running from a reasonable question. You have made it clear you
cannot understand why one person would not know another simply because they
have the same employer, even if they live far away from one another and are
not in the same department.

Dave Tholen isn't just another employee, he's an award winning
astronomer who's been posting to CSMA and COLA for years.

How is it I know who Dave Tholen is but the guy who claims to be Dave
Fritzinger does not?

No reason Fritzinger should necessarily know who Tholen is... you are simply
showing a very weak grasp of logic and reason.

In any company you usually at least hear the names of the more
prominent people even if you never meet them personally. Tholen is one
of the University of Hawaii's.

But, Mayor, we are in very different departments, and I hear little
about the Astronomy department, except to know that it is an excellent
department.

When I worked at an unnamed company who has the same initals as "Gross
Mismanagemnt" that is much larger than the University of Hawaii I
heard the names of top people in other departments on other
continents, especially if they won an award or had a tv appearance. Is
academia really so non-communicative?

After being proven you haven't got a leg to stand on you

People saying 'is not' is what I'd call proof.

are coming up with a pathetic part of your life story

Actually it was a pretty good part of my life.

and start blaming 'academia'?

So now asking someone in academia if academia was more insular than
business is 'blaming'?

Why not just say: 'Ah ok, well that was a bit of a damp squib.'

You mean like I'm doing with you?

Laugh it off.

Exactly like I'm doing with you.

Get a break.

??

Stop snooping in peoples private life.

So now profiles posted on the web are supposed to be 'private'? I
think you need to do some research on how this whole Internet thing
works.

Anyone using personal information from outside the newsgroup,
especially to discredit another correspondent without making a factual
point that is on-topic here is a snoop, opportunist and basically a
creepy stalker in my book.

1) I used their public profiles to show that I had no way of knowing
something that it was insisted I should know in a posting in this
group.
2) Information posted on the Web and not protected is there for public
consumption. That's jusy how it is. I assume that Dave has some sort
of say as to what goes into his profile so there's nothing there that
he doesn't want anyone to know about him.
3) If I had gone beyond typing a name into Google you might have a
point. The simple fact is that there's a helluva lot of information
about a person that is in public records. I didn't dig up any of that.
