"The platform is being marketed as a way to centralize frequently
accessed data such as photos, videos, and music, and provide backup to
homes that have multiple computers. Add-ins provide additional
functionality: for example, a TiVo add in allows users to stream
videos from their computers to the set-top box."
Cuss and discuss.
What's so special about this? It does nothing that any old Mac or Windows
PC can't do.
Sure most of us in here could set up all of this on any old computer.
This is for those who are not so knowledgeable.
As far as streaming to Tivo this has been available for the
Mac since 2003 -- and yes I know it's also available for Windows.

"TiVo Desktop 1.0 has been released, which lets you stream photos and music
from your Mac over a network to a TiVo PVR (personal video recorder). It
requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later, iTunes 3.0.1 or greater, and iPhoto 2 or
later on the Mac side, and a Series2 TiVo with the $99 extra Home Media
Option activated."
Also, Apple's Airport Extreme base station is $179 and has been on the
market for almost year. It's a wireless-N base station
And you could do all this with...well numerous things on all
platforms. But its all bundled together along with backup, etc on WHS.
with a usb 2.0 port.
that with a usb hub can be used with multiple printers and hard drives. It
also has 3 gigabit ethernet ports. It runs a version Mac OS X.
