I have been enjoying my 160 since the day they showed up at the Apple
store. Previously I had a 60GB Video that worked flawlessly for well
over a year, and when I say flawless, I mean FLAWLESS, I never had to
reset it, not once. Then I gave it to my son to take to basic
training. I replaced it with a 80GB video (gen 5.5) which again was
perfect, except I sold it after two weeks because I heard new ones
were coming out.

I RAN to the Apple store and bought a 160 as soon as they got them,
what a dissapointment. It was ok, but the UI was a little jerky, until
I got the patch, now it might be better, but it locks up at a MINIMUN
once a day, the only thing I can do is to hold the center button and
the up button until it reboots.

Anybody else having problems with these?

Posts like these always amaze me. :)

Obviously the solution is to take it back to Apple. It be broke,
brother.

20% restocking fee.... the Apple tax.

My iMac has been locking up every few days... Apple is going to replace it.
For free. Covering shipping costs even.

Am I happy I have a product that is "DOA"... or at least injured on
arrival... of course not! But Apple is doing the right thing, at least for
for the most part.

Doing the right thing? You do realize you have a warranty they must cover,
right?

Sure - and based on the warranty they could have me go to my local
authorized outlet and pay extra to have my computer not sit for a couple of
weeks without being looked at. If I did not want to do that the next option
was to drive 50+ miles to go to the next closest authorized location or 100+
miles to the closest actual Apple store... and still have to wait and not
have a machine... none of them do loaners or rentals.

They went above and beyond their contractual obligations. I appreciate that
they did so.
