Lots of insults from you,

Where?

an even some lies about what I said,

The only lies here are your own.

but not a
word from you to show where you think I am wrong.

You're lying again.

I can accept that.

You're accepting your own lie.

More silliness from you, but nothing related to the topic at hand:

The "silliness" is all your own, and you snipped out all my replies to the
topic at hand.

I admit, Edwin, I take such knowledge for granted and assume others in
CSMA
also have such knowledge.

It would be great if you really had the knowledge you claim to
possess.

I would *not* not make that assumption in many of
my classes - I apologize if I have been demeaning toward you if I treated
you as though you had experience in this area when you do not.

You have that backwards. It's you who have no real computer
experience. At best you're a user of applications who has the most
rudimentary idea of what software is under those applications, but no
understanding whatsoever of the hardware under that OS.

A quick rundown of the general things a personal computer needs to be used
by most people for most situations:

Where did you paste that stuff in from?

* Hardware: the CPU, graphics card, monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. In
some
cases you might not need all of those, for example some computers do not
have mice or might even have a touch screen and no keyboard or
something...
but in general today's personal computers have those.

You must have consulted your little pop-up book of computing.

* An operating system. This is needed to run the software most people
will
run: MS Office or another similar system, Web browsers, email clients...
whatever.

* The applications themselves... the ones listed above and many, many
more.
There are literally thousands of programs one can get for a computer.

You must have impressed the hell out of yourself by coming up with
those vague little blurbs.

If any of those are missing or damaged the computer will not be usable for
what most people use it for -

But the computer without an OS will not be '"crippled."

it will be lacking something it needs to be of
full service. In many cases this can be easily corrected - just install
or
re-install an application, for example. In other cases the correction for
the problem is more involved - reinstalling the OS (which in many cases is
actually not much different than re-installing other applications) or
replacing the damaged or missing hardware.

Your writings make it clear you have only the most rudimentary
understanding of what a computer is.

Does that help you to understand?

I wasn't in need of any help.

The above is simplified and certainly
does not include every detail, but it gives the general idea.

The idea you're barely above the level of a mildly interested layman.

You again offered nothing of value but made many accusations.

Can't you do better than that?

I kindly offer you another chance to respond like an adult.
