the mac mini is fine for computing, but it never has been good on a

Only, it's a lot better than an AppleTV, for obvious reasons.

I run it on 1080p projector on a 120" cinema screen. You'd be nuts if
you think it looked anything but gorgeous.

So if you think its gorgeous you're no nuts?

Huh? I said that you would have to be nut if you thought it looked
anything BUT gorgeous.

I.e. it does look gorgeous. The Mac mini does a tremendous job of
scaling up DVD to 1080p

It just can't play REAL Hi-Def DVDs.

And neither can the AppleTV, so I can't see the relevance here. 99% of
my movie collection is on DVD. I have a HD-DVD player and a Bluray
player but only about 40 movies for them.

The relevance should be apparent here. You brag that the mini can play DVDs.
But most people already HAVE DVD players and to play Hi-Def DVDs, one has to
BUY a NEW hi-def player with either the Apple TV or the Mini. Ergo, no points
to the Mini on being able to play DVDs.
